Multiple victims’ families are upset about how the whole thing turned out — but one family are clearly ready for this whole thing to be over: Bryan Kohberger‘s family.
In exchange for the death penalty being taken off the table, the criminology grad student officially pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday to the brutal murders of four University of Idaho kids.
The families of Xana Kernodle and Kaylee Goncalves are incensed by the whole thing, with the latter calling it a “deal with the devil” in a fiery social media statement. They wanted their day in court — and to see Kohberger convicted. Maddie Mogen‘s family doesn’t feel the same… It’s a complicated issue.

Meanwhile, despite no one really even wondering what they want, Bryan’s fam have weighed in. In a statement through their lawyer, they asked for privacy, saying, per NewsNation‘s Brian Entin:
“In light of recent developments, the Kohbergers are asking members of the media for privacy, respect, and responsible judgment during this time. We will continue to allow the legal process to unfold with respect to all parties and will not release any comments or take any questions. We ask that you respect our wishes during a difficult time for all those affected.”
“A difficult time for all those affected.”
We appreciate that it must be unimaginably difficult to have someone in your family murder a bunch of college kids. But really? All those affected?? The families of the victims should probably get to keep the floor for a bit here, right?
Again, by saying they “will not release any comments” we understand they’re basically saying they’re going to be shutting up now, but you know what might have been better? Just not releasing that comment either. Just sayin’.
At least give the families whose children were brutalized time to say whatever they need to. Are we wrong here? Let us know in the comments if you think so!
