Really, Buckingham Palace??
Earlier this week, the royal family took to social media to announce that Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their second child. Despite the whole announcement only being a few sentences, it turns out the royals had to quickly delete their initial statement because of a stupid and easily avoidable mistake!

According to Hello! on Wednesday, the Palace deleted their first X (Twitter) post on Tuesday morning because of a rare typo! Rather than refer to the pregnant royal as Her Royal Highness, her official title, they wrote:
“Her Royal Highess”
LOLz!
How’d they miss that?? You’d think the literal royal family would have someone proofreading their posts more closely! It’s not the worst spelling mistake we’ve ever seen in an announcement (that would be “George Clooney engaged to girlfriend Anal“) but still! They had to delete the whole post and start over because of this!
There’s more, though…
Outlets who quickly reported the news, like People and Hello!, claimed a seemingly since-deleted announcement also noted that the 36-year-old was due in “early spring.” The amended press release simply said the newborn would be coming some time “early in the new year.” So, maybe that was a mistake, too?? We wouldn’t put it past the Palace at this point, and that does seem like a way worse mistake if Beatrice and Edo didn’t want the due date public yet! If The Firm is accidentally revealing sensitive info like this, that’s a big issue!
So far, though, it’s hard to know why that detail in the announcement changed. Another minor edit? One version of the statement obtained by several outlets included the couple’s children’s ages — they share Wolfie, Edoardo’s son from a previous relationship, and Sienna. For reference, several publications reported that the Palace’s first press release read:
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie, aged eight, and Sienna, aged three. His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
As you can see, this doesn’t include the spelling error — and that’s because it was a totally different statement than that one. The spelling error came in an identical post to the final version (below), minus the HRH title mishap. So, it seems like they ultimately released at least three different versions, just replacing it over and over! That’s crazy! LOLz!
