Cara Delevingne is a model with a heart!
She recently caught wind of Yashika Bageerathi’s current situation: the 19-year-old moved with her family from Mauritius to London in 2012 to escape a dangerous and abusive relative. Since then, Yashika has been a model student and has had a positive impact on her school, Queen Mary University.
But regardless of her backstory, the Home Office has refused her appeal to stay in the UK. They will be deporting Yashika back to Mauritius this week — ALONE. Her family is still waiting for their applications to go through!
What a horrible situation!! And Mauritius is just a small island, so it would be easy for Yashika’s threatening relative to find her again.
Cara felt for the straight-A student’s situation, and passionately tweeted:
The Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP, Home Secretary: #FightForYashika Stop this sixth form student being deported alone. She deserves a future!

We’re sure Yashika is thrilled to have the support!!
Queen Delevingne also tweeted a link to a Change.Org petition that, with enough signatures, could get the Home Secretary to reconsider her decision.
The petition pleads to at LEAST let Yashika finish her schooling before she’s sent back! It could be the only opportunity for Yashika to change her circumstances for the better.
