Cardi B has words for fans criticizing her for working out so soon after giving birth.
Earlier this month, the Be Careful rapper revealed that she had officially welcomed her third child with estranged husband Offset. And just 8 days later, she returned to the photo sharing app to let followers know that she was already back in the gym putting in work on the StairMaster. She captioned her Story post:
“Since I’m off tonight I’m doing a late night gym session… No heavy lifting, no weight, just straight stair master until next week … Remember ladies this is my third baby… With my other 2 babies I was still on bedrest on my first week postpartum”

She also noted that she’d soon be starting a routine with an absolutely RIPPED personal trainer in another week, which had fans wondering if what she was doing was safe. Many new moms are told to rest a LOT longer than a week. On X (Twitter), one user wrote:
“It’s barely been a week. Yoh, the pressure women in the industry are under? Insane.”
And the WAP rapper saw — and had a sharp clapback!

In response to the fan’s opinion, Cardi defended her workout, saying:
“This is my third baby and postpartum is a little different from my first two… I’m not doing heaving [sic] lifting, no muscle straining, squatting none of that… just cardio.”
She went on to reveal that her mental health is a big part of why she’s getting back to work so early:
“Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression you gotta keep your mind busy and for me that’s work and staying active…”
Seems like a really good answer with a lot of insight… But Cardi quickly turned up the heat, blasting “fake concerned” fans who previously attacked her for gaining weight!
“…but you know what’s funny?? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant but now yall fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working now that you see I’m still at it it’s something else?? So yeah I’m taking this personal but its FOR ME because either way y’all are gonna have something to say”

Yikes!! We’re glad she’s finding ways to combat postpartum depression. We’re also sure it’s SO hard to be under such a microscope all the time, as she describes.
But it’s also important to remember the fans are not a monolith, even if it seems that way. It seems to us these fans for the most part just want to make sure she’s not doing anything dangerous. The X user responded she “genuinely didn’t mean any harm” and was more criticizing “‘snap back’ culture” and its toll on women in the spotlight. And Cardi agreed. She said:
“Totally babe!! And I do agree about society and pressure…I just was never the type to care about snap back after birth. I don’t know what it is about this time around but I have this burst of energy where I want to do EVERYTHING… It’s like I want to complete all my goals in one day”

Well, good for her for making the most of her time! Like we said, we just hope everything was cleared with her doctor and she’s taking it easy, which it sounds like she is!
Thoughts?
