The dramatic, on-screen court proceedings peppered throughout the video are actually right on the nose, when you stop and take a look at the legal drama Cardi is facing IRL.
As we reported, the star was indicted by a grand jury in New York over her alleged actions during an apparent altercation in a strip club in that state last summer on August 15. Initially, the court slapped her with two felony counts of attempted assault.
But as of Tuesday, June 25, the rapper, along with two co-defendants involved, Tawana “RemyRojaLaPerla” Jackson-Morel and Jeffrey “AstonMartinChuck” Bush, have pleaded not guilty to fourteen felony and misdemeanor charges from the incident, which include reckless endangerment, assault, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, and harassment. The defendants could possibly be sentenced to up to four years in prison if convicted.
In a statement released by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, attorney John M. Ryan wrote:

“The defendants in this case are accused of two premeditated attacks on two women working at a club in Queens last summer. The victims allegedly had glass bottles hurled at them, alcoholic drinks thrown in their faces and one woman’s head was slammed into the bar. This kind of violence won’t be tolerated in our community. The defendants will be held accountable for their alleged actions.”

Wait, so there were allegedly TWO different bar attacks?!
Per the statement above, the formal charge also outlines a separate August 29 attack at the same strip club in question, this time targeting the 23-year-old sister of the first victim.
The indictment also included apparent evidence of the group’s mediated efforts leading up to the attack, including chats between Cardi and Jackson-Morel on a social media platform in which they “allegedly coordinated the day, time, and location the attack would take place, as well as whom they were targeting.””The two reportedly discussed a money exchange for the planned attack.
Yikes, this doesn’t sound very good…
Jackson-Morel and Bush are set to return to court on Sept. 9, but Bardi’s next court date is not yet scheduled.
We’ll continue to keep you posted as the case develops!
