Well this is the total opposite of an AH-Mazing evening!
Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City‘s hit track Good Time was sued for for copyright infringement back in 2012…
And it looks like they just lost their case!
BMI (the company who collects royalties from the song) is now being order to pay over $800k to the lesser known vocalist Ally Burnett, who the song apparently rips off!
If you listen closely, Ally’s ear candy, Ah, It’s a Love Song, does sound tr├â┬⌐s similar – but your humble opinion is ALWAYS appreciated.
Do you think the ruling was fair?!
UPDATE: There has so far been NO ruling in this case by the court. The plaintiff actually dismissed her claims against BMI and agreed that royalties deposited by BMI can be released to the lawyers for other defendants in the case. That part of the claim has nothing to do with Carly Rae or Owl City.
Ch-ch-check out both videos…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
