After Tot Mom Casey Anthony was slapped with a subpoena this week and sued for defamation by the woman who Casey claimed kidnapped her daughter, lawyers for Zanaida Gonzalez are speaking out.
While it was reported that Casey was planning to just make the situation go away by making a public apology, John Dill, Gonzalez’s lawyer, doesn’t think that can undo the damage.
Dill stated:
├óΓé¼┼ôWe have heard those reports. And let me say this very bluntly, an apology isn’t good enough, period. It’s meaningless, and Ms. Anthony seems to be unable to tell the truth. We want her to testify under oath, under penalty of perjury. My client deserves answers about what motivated Casey to do the things she did, as our client has suffered substantially because of someone else├óΓé¼Γäós actions.├óΓé¼┬¥
Though the civil trial isn’t scheduled to begin until January 2013, Gonzalez’s attorneys were happy they were finally able to track her down and formally serve her the subpoena.
Dill went on to state:
├óΓé¼┼ôDuring the deposition of Ms. Anthony which was done via Skype, in which she wore a disguise, we didn’t get much from it, so we are certainly looking forward to having her sit and answer questions in front of our client, and a jury of Casey Anthony’s peers.”
The lawyer also said that there├óΓé¼Γäós a good chance Cindy Anthony, Casey├óΓé¼Γäós mother, will be called to testify and that in the state of Florida, the jury — consisting of six people — must reach a unanimous decision.
We can only hope justice will be served and that Gonzalez can go on living her life without these false statements hanging over her head.
