Catherine O'Hara's Brother Reveals She 'Wasn't Talking Much In The End' -- And Heartbreaking Way She Said 'Goodbye' To Him

Catherine O’Hara‘s brother is recalling her heartbreaking final days.

Back in January, the 71-year-old actress died from a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer as the underlying cause. We knew she battled an illness before her death, but no one knew she had cancer at the time. Even her castmates reportedly had no idea about “any health or major issues.” Now, her brother is opening up about her last moments amid the medical battle.

During an episode of his Dreams of Our Loved Ones podcast, Michael P. O’Hara revealed that Catherine “wasn’t talking much in the end.” He explained the Schitt’s Creek alum, who resided in El Lay, “didn’t live close by” and that she “didn’t really want to talk on the phone.” So when Catherine came to him in a dream just “days or a few days before” before she died, Michael found it special:

“I always cherish the times I can meet with a loved one in the dream state. And I was hugging her, which was really beautiful. And I guess it was sort of a goodbye. Since then, I’ve had a lovely dream where I was visiting her, and she was in a new house and it was being renovated, and she was really busy choosing furniture and couches. And she said, ‘You can sleep here anytime, Michael. You can come over and stay any time.'”

Michael said the dream was similar to what happened IRL when Catherine was starring in Second City Television:

“I was apprenticing at the Windsor Arms Hotel. I would go over and sleep over at her place some nights because she had an extra bedroom. Yeah, pretty cool. But yeah, it was beautiful. She was just so happy and very busy in the other world that she’s now in, but yeah, it’s beautiful. The love, you know, continues no matter what. They’re always with us.”

What a beautiful moment he can treasure forever. Reactions? Let us know.
