Fashion from the 1800s is pretty damn pricey!
A war shirt worn by Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe in 1877 was auctioned off at the Coeur D’Alene Art Auction in Reno for $877,500.
The top can be seen in a painting at the Smithsonian, and now some rich individual will hang up the tangible piece in his or her home.
The organizer of the annual auction, Mike Overby said :

“The shirt that sold in Reno is considered to be one of the most important Native American artifacts to ever come to auction. It had been expected to bring from $800,000 to $1.2 million at auction. Anything associated with Chief Joseph is highly desirable, and that’s a pretty special shirt.”

The poncho-style fighting top is made of two soft skins, most likely deerskin, and adorned with beadwork, geometric designs and what looks like real human hair.
According to American Indian scholar, Theodore Brasser, the shirt was only worn for special occasions.
We bet if the chief knew how much his top was going to sell for in the future, he wouldn’t have battled in it.
That’s like wearing the $1,000,000 gold bra as your normal everyday undergarment.
Pricey items shouldn’t even be allowed to hit the air!
