China Issues Nationwide Smoking Restrictions

China is the largest tobacco producer in the world and home to 1/3rd of all smokers.
Unfortunately, all of those people are now screwed (it’s good, though. smoking is terrible for you).
China just issued a national ban on smoking in hotels, restaurants, and other indoor public spaces.
The new laws will take effect on May 1, and will also include restrictions on cigarette vending machines and on outdoor smoking that affects pedestrians.
Some Chinese people are skeptical about whether or not the laws will make a difference.
“Chinese people, including most government officials, are just too in love with their cigarettes to pay attention to such a law,” said Liu Bailing, 28.
We hope the Chinese government enforces the law properly!
