Chris Brown has been arrested… again.
The rapper was taken into custody early Thursday morning — just after 2 a.m. local time — in Manchester, England, for allegedly hitting music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in 2023. The Metropolitan Police told The Sun that the 36-year-old was detained at the Lowry Hotel on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Apparently, the musician had just arrived in the area on Wednesday afternoon after flying in on a private jet, and when detectives were informed of his arrival, they quickly swooped in and arrested him. The department said:
“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
This comes after the music producer filed a lawsuit against the With You artist in October 2023, alleging he was assaulted in February of that year at the Tape London nightclub.

He claimed the vocalist “inflicted severe and lasting injuries” on him after “beating him over the head” with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 before continuing to “ruthlessly stomp on” him and kick him in the back of the neck, knocking him briefly unconscious. He alleged he was sent to the hospital with “lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg” and that Chris had taken part in “defamatory conduct by spreading false rumors” about him and his clients after the attack.
This isn’t Chris’ first run-in with the law after pleading guilty to felony assault in 2009 for beating up his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna. His ex Karrueche Tran was also granted a five-year restraining order against him in 2017.
He’s set to start a 20th-anniversary tour next month, with many dates in the UK. It’s unclear if that’s been affected by this investigation. He has not commented on the arrest at this time.
