Netflix has officially given us our first look at its upcoming production, Selena: The Series, starring Christian Serratos!

The Walking Dead star is set to play iconic Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla in a two-part limited series chronicling the late entertainer’s coming of age, rise to fame, and legacy, with an unspecified release date on the streaming service sometime in 2020.

The one-minute trailer features cuts of Serratos fully in character while reading script pages, practicing her dance moves in that unforgettable purple jumpsuit, and touching up her signature red lipstick before eventually making her way over to the stage.

Based on the short but captivating clip (above), we have to say, we’re already impressed by the 29-year-old’s performance! We mean, doesn’t she look like a dead ringer for Selena??

Could this rival Jennifer Lopez’s version?

We shall see!

Jaime Davila, president and co-founder of the production company behind the series, Campanario Entertainment, spoke highly of the show produced with the Quintanilla family’s blessing in an official statement (below), which reads:

“Selena is an inspirational figure who’s transcended generations. At Campanario, we’ve always known it was crucial for this series to find actors with the right mix of talent, charisma, and passion to honor Selena’s legacy and the story of her family. Our casting director, Carla Hool, and her team have found an amazing cast to depict the Quintanilla family, and we’re sure fans everywhere will be captivated yet again by Selena’s incredible life.”

The supporting cast members of Selena: The Series includes Gabriel Chavarria as Selena’s oldest brother, A.B., Noemi Gonzalez as her sister, Suzette, Ricardo Chavira as her father, Abraham, and Seidy Lopez as her mother, Marcella. Madison Taylor Baez will play a young version of the Tejano starlet, too.

Thoughts on all this, Perezcious readers? Will you be dusting off your dancing shoes and tuning in when full episodes drop next year?
