Christina Ricci Talks Fashion Faux Pas While Looking Pretty For The Edit

Christina Ricci talks fashion in her Edit magazine spread!

Christina Ricci knows exactly how hard it is to grow up in the spotlight — she├óΓé¼Γäós been through it!

In the Modern Romance issue of Edit magazine, she both poses very romantically and opens up about her style difficulties growing up.

The actress attended her very first Cannes Film Festival at age 17 in 1997 wearing an unflattering gown she bought from Barneys, but the then-teen has had a major style evolution since then.

She reminisced about that fateful Cannes outfit, saying:

“It was the mid-’90s, so you didn’t have to borrow clothes, or wear the latest thing. The first time I went to Cannes – for The Ice Storm – we went to Barneys and picked out the gowns ourselves. I was a 17-year-old fright fest! I’d dyed my hair blonde for a role and I was overweight. But then, I don’t know anyone who looks back and says, ‘Oh, you should see what I looked like at 17…’”

As Christina transitioned from her teens to her twenties, then her twenties to her thirties, she found that she could wear her clothing more gracefully. Ricci explained:

“I got smaller and more comfortable with myself. It was a gradual thing. As I got older, I became more like my mother. I began to wear what I wanted to wear. I’m finding I don’t want to stick to my rigid rules any more. Now I think, ‘Well, I’ve never worn those kind of pants before – let’s try them!’ I do have this mentality of trying to dress older. I find people treat me more seriously if I’m well-dressed and put together.”

Dress to impress, as they say!

And now that the leading lady is about to be the star of her own wedding with fiance James Heerdegen, she’s thought about sporting a colored gown but ultimately settled on traditional white. While she hasn’t revealed the designer of the dress yet, she did say:

“My mother wore a baby-blue Betsey Johnson for her wedding. At first, I thought it would be sweet to be a bride in blue, and then I thought, no. It’s the one time, God willing, that I’ll wear a wedding dress, so I’m wearing white.”

Guess mommy doesn’t know best, LOLz!
