Aw, poor Clay Aiken.
After taking second place on American Idol and later losing to Arsenio Hall on Celebrity Apprentice, the singer is a runner-up once again.
After a hard-fought race to represent North Carolina’s second district, Clay has failed to unseat Renee Elmers.

With roughly 44 percent of the vote compared to the incumbent’s 56 percent, Clay could never quite build up the momentum he needed in the largely Republican state.
And to add ignominy to injury, Clay’s campaign bus even broke down on Tuesday morning!
We can’t think of anything more heartbreakingly symbolic than that!
Oh well! We’re proud of you for running a courageous race and trying to make a positive change! For that we say congratulations, Clay.
