Remember when we told you that Clay Aiken was getting his own TV show?
Well, that time has come!
Esquire Network is ready to air their TV series about the former American Idol star, as he made a run at joining congress.
Academy Award-winner Simon Chinn produced the four-hour original docu-series, titled THE RUNNER-UP, since Clay lost the election to incumbent Congresswoman Renee Ellmers. (Oh, and he also was runner-up to Ruben Studdard on the second season of American Idol, remember??)

It will premiere in April, though an exact date hasn’t been announced yet.
The series documents EVERYTHING that went on, including the shock of Aiken’s Democratic opponent dying!
And his story is so compelling: Clay is a gay, single father, who runs opposed with little support and not many resources at his disposal, and constantly struggles against his image of a reality TV pop star.
It’s a shame he couldn’t drum up more support, but maybe after seeing this series, people will be more likely to vote for him!
