What a bunch of spoilsports…
On the heels of the Supreme Court overturning the Defense of Marriage Act, there’s already talk that conservative representatives in Washington will try to restore DOMA! We’ll wait until you finish yelling “whaaaa?” at your computer screen.
Representative Tim Huelskamp of Kansas said the following in response to today’s verdict:
├óΓé¼┼ôMy response to this will be later this week to file a federal marriage amendment.”
Yeah, good luck with that, Tim! Oh, and just FYI, amendments to the Constitution began as a way to prevent the federal government from infringing on citizens’ liberties, not as a way to get rid of hard earned freedoms. Meanwhile, thousands of Americans, of all sexual orientations, are celebrating this monumental victory at rallies across the country! Tim, we think you’ll have better luck trying to file a noise complaint than a constitutional amendment.
