Louisiana Cop Fired After Saying Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Should Be SHOT!

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez targeted in Facebook post

The attacks on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez need to stop!

The Gretna Police Department in Louisiana has fired a longtime police officer for writing on Facebook last week that the progressive congresswoman should be shot.

According to Police Chief Arthur Lawson, Charles Rispoli, the author of the post, got the boot on Monday, along with another officer who apparently responded supportively to the post. The two cops’ terminations were announced at a news conference days after Rispoli’s comment was first reported on Saturday.

In the post, the officer called AOC a “vile idot” who “needs a round…….and I don’t mean the kind she used to serve.”

Um… WTF?!

Rispoli had reportedly served with the department since 2005, where he worked in the court system and with people under house arrest.

Angelo Varisco was also canned for allegedly responding to the post with a thumbs-up or laughing emoji. He had been a Gretna police police officer since 2016, but, like Rispoli, was not a patrol officer on the streets.

Chief Lawson said during Monday’s presser:

“This incident, we feel, has been an embarrassment to our department. These officers have certainly acted in a manner which was unprofessional, alluding to a violent act to be conducted against a sitting U.S. congressman, a member of our government. We’re not going to tolerate that.”

We certainly hope not!

Lawson added that Rispoli’s post “violated our policy, it was in a nature that certainly was not supported by our agency and promoted violence.”

Weirdly enough, the cop’s criticism of the 29-year-old representative was attached to an article about how she believed soldiers were paid too much — which Lawson later confirmed was fake news.

While the chief said he believes the officer simply “just got caught up in the heat of the moment,” he said the social media behavior “shows a lack of the officer paying attention to what’s going on in the world around him.”

He added of the unfortunate state of immediate internet fury:

“I mean this wasn’t even a real news article. You see in social media where people don’t read what they’re reading and they don’t comprehend what they’re reading. They take a caption and react, read a headline and react to it. It’s a shame, but it’s the world we’re living in now. It’s sad, but it’s something we just can’t tolerate.”

Although Lawson was quick to condemn the officers for their conduct, he stressed that the post was a heated hyperbole and not an actual threat of violence.

It’s not dissimilar to President Donald Trump’s recent attack on Ocasio-Cortez and three other progressive female lawmakers, where he recklessly told them to “go back” to the countries they came from — despite the fact that three of them were born in the U.S., and all four women are citizens.

We think it’s safe to say Trump’s racist comments are what spawned this vicious post, along with other recent social media attacks directed at the four congresswomen of color.

In another Facebook post, the Illinois Republican County Chairmen’s Association shared an image of Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ayanna Presley (D-Mass.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) labeled the “Jihad Squad.”

Spoofing the 2013 film Gangster Squad, the post (below) was accompanied with the caption:

“Political Jihad is their game. If you don’t agree with their socialist ideology, you’re racist.”

Fun fact: you can disagree with their “socialist ideology” and not be racist!

It’s when you tell U.S. citizens of color to go back to where they came from — or, more disgustingly, dub them the “Jihad Squad” — that racism comes into play.

Evolve faster, dummies.
