Cory Monteith‘s demise was engineered by an addiction he could never overcome and that is truly heartbreaking, but we must remember the young star was defined by much, much more than just his chemical dependencies.
Everyone who knew the 31-year-old actor speaks fondly of him and most, like Jane Lynch the other night on Leno, cannot help but smile when they remember his great big heart.
The extent of Cory’s impact on all of our lives is incalculable which is why so many of his friends are sticking up for him now, ensuring his legacy isn’t unnecessarily tarnished by the substances that stole him away.
One confidant recently explained how the Glee star was vastly different than most addicts.
That source said:
“He was not a typical addict where it made him evil. He was the nicest, sweetest guy… He really struggled… That was his life. He was still coming to terms with that.”
It’s a sad shame drugs and alcohol robbed us all of Cory’s talent, but we should remember those addictions never robbed him of his kindness. In many ways, he continued inspiring us all right up until the very end.
He will be missed.
