What goes around comes around!
The pilot of the US Airways plane that landed on the Hudson River was set to go on the Today show with Matt Lauer for his first interview about that history-making day.
However, after some last minute “complications”, Katie Couric and her people were able to snag the interview with Pilot Chesley (Sully) Sullenberger away from NBC.
Well, the best part is that Sully has now spoken with ESPN’s Rick Reilly – BEFORE Katie! The interview took place rather quickly during the Super Bowl festivies this past weekend. Sully and his crew attended the game on Sunday as guests of the NFL Commissoner.
Couric must be grinding her chipmunk teeth in anger!
So, in his first interview ever since the plane crash, Sully spoke with NBC CBS ESPN and said, “It was very quiet as we worked, my co-pilot and I. We were a team. But to have zero thrust coming out of those engines was shocking – the silence.”
When asked how he felt as he started to land the plane, Sully responded, “Calm on the outside, turmoil inside.”
Even Sully’s wife spoke out. She said they’ve received so much fan mail they read it together at night before going to bed. Adding, “It allows both of us to express emotion about it all. We both sit there and cry.”
And if you still want to watch CBS’s 60 Minutes “exclusive”, you can catch it this Sunday evening with Sully and his wife chatting about the incident, again.
We’re sure NBC is loving this!
