Cybill Shepherd Claims Les Moonves Canceled Her Sitcom After She Wouldn't Sleep With Him!

Cybill Shepherd Sitcom CBS Les Moonves

Fans of the ’90s sitcom Cybill may finally have an answer about the show’s sudden cancellation. And not a nice one.
Cybill Shepherd‘s meta sitcom about an aging actress trying to find work was a fan favorite and critical darling.
It was nominated for 12 Emmys in just three and a half seasons, including 3 noms and a win for the incomparable Christine Baranski.

Then in 1998 it just… vanished.
Despite having ratings higher than fellow CBS hits Chicago Hope and Nash Bridges, the show never got to pay off its season finale’s “To be continued” card.
Now Cybill has finally revealed the one piece of the puzzle the audience never had — she rejected Les Moonves.
The TV vet spilled on SiriusXM’s The Michelle Collins Show, claiming the network chief totally creeped on her one night:

“He was telling me his wife didn’t turn him on, some mistress didn’t turn him on… he says, ‘Well, you know, why don’t you let me take you home?’ I said, ‘No, I’ve got a ride.’ And I had my car outside with a good friend of mine who is an off-duty LAPD officer.”

And that was that.
Except… the cancellation came “quite shortly afterward” in Cybill’s words. In fact, she thinks if she had slept with him, the show “would have run another five years.”
While she can’t prove the connection, the timing makes sense.
Among the charges of sexual misconduct, the disgraced executive has been accused of attacking the careers of women who didn’t play ball before.
Ugh. So gross.
