Daily Dose Of New HIV Drugs Reduces Risk Of HIV Infection

OMG the new HIV drugs being developed are unbelievable!

Scientists have found that a daily dose of an oral antiretroviral drug, which is currently approved to treat HIV infection, reduces the risk of contracting an HIV infection by 43.8%. Another study found even higher rates of effectiveness — up to 72.8%.

What’s amazing about this drug is that these results include gay men, who are at a higher risk of contracting the virus.

Said Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases:

“We now have strong evidence that pre-exposure prophylaxis with an antiretroviral drug, a strategy widely referred to as PrEP, can reduce the risk of HIV acquisition among men who have sex with men, a segment of the population disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS.”

This is such incredible news — it wasn├óΓé¼Γäót so long ago that there was no way to battle HIV, and now we├óΓé¼Γäóre beginning to figure out how to prevent it!!
