David Copperfield is the latest celebrity to be accused of sexual misconduct.
According to a report published on Wednesday, Brittney Lewis — a former model — tells TheWrap she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the magician back in 1988. She was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
The two met in September of that year when Lewis was competing in Elite Model Management‘s “Look of the Year” modeling contest, where the performer was a judge.

When Lewis returned home to Utah, Copperfield invited her to one of his shows in California. Because she was a minor, he asked permission from her grandmother, Patricia Burton, and assured her that Brittney would be accompanied at all times and would be staying in a separate hotel room. Burton remembers:
“He said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll take care of her’… I believed him. He was very charming.”
After his show, the two went to a bar where Lewis says she saw him pour something into her glass. She recalls:
“I asked, ├óΓé¼╦£What are you doing?’ and he said, ‘Oh, I’m just sharing.”‘
After taking a few sips of her drink, Lewis says she blacked out but slightly remembers being carried into a cab, and him inside her hotel room where he wore a black robe with shoulder pads. Brittney then remembers him being on top of her, and kissing her with bad breath.
“I remember my clothes being taken off… He was kissing my face and then I remember him starting to go down on my body with his face, and then, as soon as he started going down, I just completely blacked out.”
When she woke up the next morning, she remembers feeling sick and nauseous. Allegedly, Copperfield entered her room and told her:
“He wanted to me know that nothing happened because I was underage… He said: ‘I didn’t enter you.'”
Although there “was no fluid,” Lewis believes he could have potentially “had a condom.”
Lewis ended up leaving the trip early, but before jetting out of California, she says Copperfield made her write a letter saying she was okay.
A few months later, Lewis says she was contacted by Copperfield’s assistant about going to his show in Utah, but she declined and said she never wanted to see him ever again.
Although Lewis says she filed a report with the FBI in 2007, a spokeswoman for the organization declined to comment. Despite coming forward with her story, Brittney does not plan on pursuing a criminal or civil suit against the now-61-year-old.
On Tuesday, TheWrap contacted Copperfield and his representatives but have yet to receive a response. On Wednesday, hours before the report was published, Copperfield posted the following message on social media giving support to the #MeToo movement, but also revealing what it is like to be “falsely accused.”

In 2007, Lacey Carroll accused Copperfield of sexually assaulting her at his house in the Bahamas, but charges were never filed. The accuser was later arrested and charged for making false sexual assault accusations against another man in Washington state.
In his letter, Copperfield urges everyone to not “rush to judgement” and to “consider everything carefully.”
