He may not have won best picture or director this year, but if he signs on to direct Cleopatra based off of Stacy Schiff‘s biography Cleopatra: A Life, we have a feeling he will!
Since James Cameron and Paul Greengrass have dropped out, David Fincher is currently in talks to healm Sony Picture’s Cleopatra biopic film with Angelina Jolie attached to star as the Egyptian queen.
As we mentioned before, the film is being produced by super-producer Scott Rudin who worked with Fincher on The Social Network, as well as the upcoming Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, so it sounds like this is a legitimate possibility!
However, his committment will come down to timing because word is that Sony wants to get this project moving ASAP and the busy director is expected to return for the next installment in The Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire.
The director is ALSO attached to Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo, so again, TIMING is a major element of his involvement.
We’re crossing our fingers for Fincher to take on Cleopatra because we’d love to see his work complimented by Angelina Jolie’s elegant acting!
Do U think David Fincher should direct Cleopatra?
