Almost a month after Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital following an apparent overdose, her younger sister is celebrating the fact that the singer lived to see her 26th birthday.
Madison De La Garza broke her silence on the pop star’s reported drug overdose in an emotional Instagram post Monday, writing that she’s beyond thankful for having her sister alive and in recovery on what “could have been one of the worst days of my life.”

Captioning a throwback photo of the two of them from about 10 years ago, the 16-year-old actress thanked “God, the incredible doctors, demi’s team, and everyone across the world who offered their support” in her post.
She also wrote down some “silly little things” she loves about her big sister, adding:
“I’ve been thinking about how i wish that everyone could see the silly little things that she does, like how her nostrils move when she says certain words and when she brushes my hair behind my ear when i’m trying to sleep, because those are the things I’m thankful for today.”
