It was an important enough film to warrant a place in the prestigious Criterion Collection, so why shouldn’t it get a statue?
We haven’t heard much lately about Darren Aronofsky’s potential reboot of RoboCop, but in the meanwhile, Detroit residents are rebooting it in their own way…by raising $$$ for a robo-statue!
That’s right! Detroit residents have already put together over $56,000 for a Robocop statue! Wowza!
Here’s what Detroit Mayor Dave Bing had to say about it on his Twitter page:
“There are not any plans to erect a statue to RoboCop. Thank you for the suggestion.”
LOLz! Here’s what Jerry Paffendorf, a campaign leader for the RoboCop statue’s erection had to say about it:
“If people can raise money for something like RoboCop, then they can do it for their neighborhoods or their schools. Sometimes it takes a RoboCop to open up the consciousness of these things.”
We’d LOVE to see this happen! Why don’t you make a contribution, Eminem! You grew up in Detroit!
