Diane Sawyer is stepping down from anchoring ABC├óΓé¼Γäós World News to take on a new role with the network – covering in-depth specials and stories, much like the now retired Barbara Walters once did!
The 68-year-old journalist (damn, gurl!) addressed her departure from the news desk on the program last night, saying:

“At the end of the summer, I’m going to be moving to a new role at the network. Full-time, flat out, of doing the reporting I love, from around the world and in-depth specials on the stories that matter so much to all our lives.”

Then Diane introduced viewers to the tall drink of water who will be taking her place!
