This just keeps getting messier…. and juicier!
In the latest twist to rock the sports media world, Dianna Russini is already fielding at least one potential career comeback opportunity after her headline-making resignation from The Athletic. Yes, amid all the swirling drama involving New England Patriots football coach Mike Vrabel and those now-infamous photos, someone is ready to roll out the welcome mat for her return. And not just anyone, either.
Enter multimedia sports talk show host Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, who made it very clear on his Stugotz and Company podcast this week that he’s firmly in Russini’s corner. While the internet continues to buzz with speculation and side-eyes, he’s offering something far more concrete: a job. Weiner said on his show:
“I did say if The Athletic fired her, I would hire her. They didn’t fire her. She stepped down from The Athletic, and the offer holds forever.”
Forever?! That’s not exactly a casual offer, folks!
And then Stugotz doubled down even harder, making it clear that whenever Russini is ready to step back into the spotlight, he’s got a seat waiting for her:
“If Dianna Russini decides one day, three months from now, a year from now, two years from now, that she wants to get back into this game, she has a place right here.”
Now that’s loyalty… or a very savvy booking strategy!
But before anyone accuses him of spinning PR, Stugotz shut that down real quick, insisting he’s not here to clean up anyone’s image:
“I am simply saying it’s her story to tell. It’s not my story, and I am simply going to support my friend.”
Translation: don’t expect him to spill the tea… hmm…
And he made it crystal clear he’s keeping whatever Russini has shared with him locked tight:
“I’m not a journalist. I’m a talk show host. And when my real friends fall on some difficult times, I like to support my friends and talk to them and be someone that listens. Not talks, listens. This is her story to share when she feels like sharing it. It is not me.”
Meanwhile, the fallout from the scandal is still unfolding. Russini, a respected NFL insider, stepped away after THOSE Arizona hotel photos sparked intense chatter, despite both her and Vrabel insisting nothing inappropriate happened. Still, the situation escalated fast, especially after older photos of the two then quickly surfaced after that, sending the rumor mill into overdrive.

Russini has maintained her professionalism throughout, pushing back against what she calls phony speculation, but ultimately chose to exit her employer to quiet the noise. Vrabel, for his part, stepped back from professional duties and has been focusing on his family.
