Diddy celebrated his 55th birthday in jail on Monday — and he rang in the bittersweet occasion on a phone call with his children. Innerestingly, this marks the first time we’ve heard him speak from behind bars!
The rapper has been locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, since his arrest in September on charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He’s also facing dozens of sexual misconduct lawsuits. Despite the many gross allegations levied against him, his seven children have remained by his side, this time by gathering together to honor his latest milestone.

On Monday, Diddy’s IG account posted a video of Quincy Brown, 33, Justin Combs, 30, Christian “King” Combs, 26, twins D’Lila and Jessie Combs, 17, and Love Combs, 1, gathered in a kitchen with Chance Combs, 18, on the phone. They sang their father Happy Birthday before Love blew out the candles of a cake, which she proceeded to jam her face in. It’s really adorable, so if it’s a play for sympathy in the court of public opinion, we can see it.
Through the phone, the music mogul can be heard thanking his children, saying:
“I love y’all, I love y’all so much. I can’t wait to see y’all. I just want to say that I’m proud of y’all, especially the girls. I mean, all y’all just for being strong.”
He continues:
“Thank y’all for being strong, and thank y’all for being by my side and supporting me. I love you.”
Despite all he’s facing, he also surprisingly says:
“I got the best family in the world. [It’s] my birthday. I’m happy. Thank you.”
He’s “happy”? Really?! We get that a b-day call probably lifted his spirits, but he’s in jail for some serious crimes! How happy can he be??
One thing that is likely keeping him positive is the fact his children are planning to visit him in jail later this week, which he references when saying:
“See you in a couple of days.”
Diddy posted the clip to his Instagram, captioning it:
“THIS MADE MY DAY Thank you”
Justin also posted the video to his page and tagged all his siblings, writing:
“Happy Birthday Pops, we love you!”
Last month, the kids released a joint statement supporting the Last Night artist, reflecting:
“The past month has devastated our family. Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media. We stand united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family.”
It’s evident how much the kids are leaning on one another right now. Honestly, that’s nice to see. Things are only going to get more challenging for them as their father nears his trial in May and more allegations come to light, so having so many siblings to turn to for help is nice. What a tough spot they’ve been put in though. Oof.
