Former Disney CEO Bob Iger claims Donald Trump had nothing to do with Jimmy Kimmel getting pushed off the air. Hmm.
Speaking to the Financial Times on Saturday, the 75-year-old reflected on the shocking 6-day suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, after the comedian made controversial jokes about Charlie Kirk‘s death. Many believed the move was to prove the network’s loyalty to the president, but Bob disagreed:
“That was not the case. We thought [Kimmel’s joke] was in bad taste.”

The businessman, who stepped down as CEO in March, pointed out that the suspension was less than a week, adding:
“We just wanted him to acknowledge that it was an ill-timed and probably inappropriate comment.”
Hmm.
Is it really that simple, though? Trump’s been begging to get all the popular late-night show hosts off the air for months now. He even gloated when Stephen Colbert‘s show ended for good. Are we really supposed to believe he had nothing to do with Jimmy’s suspension? The FCC was all over it at the time!
It’s also hard to understand why ABC would willingly pull him off the air when they turned around and signed a one-year contract extension in December! But maybe the backlash was so bad they thought it was the best decision, regardless of what Trump wanted?
