The Doctor Who Botched Joan Rivers' Surgery Once Said Anesthesiologists Are A 'Waste Of Time' For Throat Procedures

Wow, this is pretty shocking.
The doctor who performed the fatal throat surgery on Joan Rivers back in August is under fire for comments he once made about anesthesiologists.

Essentially, Dr. Leonard Cohen thinks anesthesiologists for minor procedures like Joan’s aren’t cost-effective.
Hmm, we’d argue human life trumps money but that’s just us!
In an article from 2012, Cohen wrote:

“Although we can all agree that monitored anesthesia care is a highly effective and safe method of sedation, the question is whether it is worth the extra cost to our health care system… Anesthesia far exceeds an acceptable level of cost-effectiveness.”

The sad irony here is that Rivers received a reported accidental double dose of anesthesia during the fatal procedure and to make matters even WORSE, she wasn’t weighed before the drug was administered.
Sheesh.
While an anesthesiologist was there at the beginning of the procedure, it’s not clear if one was there when the operation went south.
We can’t think of anything that would make this sad situation any worse!
