The Dolce & Gabbana tax evasion saga is finally over. Maybe.
After hours of deliberation that concluded today, a three-judge panel in Italy has decided to uphold the guilty verdict reached last year in June.
The designers, as well as accountant Luciano Patellito, have been sentenced to 18 months in jail (reduced from the original 20 month sentence).
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s lawyers appealed that decision immediately, but we’re not sure if they have any recourse left at this point.
Although, according to Italian law, they won’t even have to serve any of that time anyway (since it’s under the two-year benchmark requiring actual jail time be served). They’ll just have to keep their noses clean during those 18 months to avoid landing behind bars for real.
It’s like a two-strike law or something!
