We’re so excited to hear about all these projects that Dolly’s working on!
Back in November, we learned that Dolly Parton is planning a brand new album, as well as a worldwide tour, and NOW it looks like she’s also planning a “gospel-tinged children’s musical!”
The musical will be a semi-autobiographical play about Dolly’s “upbringing in Tennessee.”
But there’s more! Dolly MAY also do a revival of Hello, Dolly!, country-style.
Here’s what she had to say about it:
“In 1964, when I went to New York for the first time with my high school class, I only got to the movies – it was to see It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and it was a real big deal for me. But I also remember the show Hello, Dolly! was just coming out at the time, and there were signs for it all over the place, and I thought they were welcoming me to the city.”
“Later I wanted to do a country-fied version of that show – the same songs, but with a bluegrass flavour. It never happened.”
You should DEFINITELY do both of these shows, bb. We’d be very curious to see your country-fied interpretation of Hello, Dolly!
