Serious question. How are people not calling for Donald Trump to drop out of the presidential race like they did with Joe Biden?
Even ignoring all the other stuff — the crimes, the sexual abuse, the racism, the crazy Project 2025 policies — the guy has been so out of it lately! He’s been reposting fake crap his followers put in front of him, falling for hoaxes, saying things that are provably untrue…
OK, that part isn’t new, but we don’t mean lying. We’re talking about confusion right now… like how he keeps talking about Hannibal Lecter in relation to immigration, presumably because he hears the word “asylum seekers” and his addled brain jumps to the insane asylum in Silence of the Lambs that he saw 30 years ago. Well, he just added a new one to the lineup. He’s calling for the return of Johnny Carson.

On Monday night Trump seemed to be unable to recall the names of Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and even Jimmy Fallon, whose show he did. Speaking about their ratings — you know, instead of something that matters to real people — he singled out Fallon, saying:
“You remember that guy, when I first ran, it was like 2015, thinking about running, I was going to run. I went on his show, right? And he goes — ‘The Tonight Show,’ which is dying. They’re all dying. Where’s Johnny Carson? Bring back Johnny.”
Um… WHAT?? Johnny Carson has not hosted The Tonight Show since 1992. And he hasn’t been alive since 2005. Look, we’re no fans of Donald Trump for a great many reasons, but this surely must be a red flag to even his own party members that he’s not 100% living in 2024 right now. Right??
He went on to say things that made a bit more sense. Though he was still rambling weirdly for a presidential rally, he did seem a bit less confused when he was back in attack mode:
“It made you appreciate the greatness of Johnny Carson, these guys. These three guys, they’re so bad, all three.”
OK, so he hates the late night hosts. Uh huh. Because they make jokes about him, we imagine. Which, we hate to tell ya, Donny, Carson would have been doing the same thing if he were still around. You’re a punchline no matter whose job it is to deliver them. (And you still are not talking about helping people.)
He went on to describe the moment he went on The Tonight Show in 2016 while running for president — something that only could have helped him, mind you, as he was desperate for favorable media attention at that point — like it was some kind of horrific ordeal he had to go through. What do YOU think, Perezcious taxpayers? Is the 78-year-old losing the plot here?
