Getting rid of a program that protects young people raised in America from being deported is one of the coldest, cruelest moves a politician could make.
So, you know Donald Trump was going to get around to it eventually!
Still, many were dismayed when the Trump administration announced plans to phase out Barack Obama‘s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program over the next six months — leaving the fates of 800,000 individuals in the hands of Congress.

Twitter surged with outrage following the announcement, with politicians and celebs alike condemning yet another bigoted move from the president and voicing permanent protection for Dreamers whose futures are in jeopardy.
Many pointed out the fact that this decision came weeks after Trump’s flaccid rebuking of White Nationalism makes his agenda loud and clear. Then again, we already knew his valiant promise to “take care of everybody” was a complete load of bullshit.
See the reactions to the living nightmare (below)!
America is strongest when we come together and reject xenophobia. Congress must permanently protect Dreamers and reject Trump’s bigotry. https://t.co/zn0Mk1rd11

This country belongs to the Dreamers as much as it does to any of us. An attack on DACA is an attack on our American values. #DefendDACA

How shameful that AG Jeff Sessions was too scared to take questions after his #DACA announcement. Transparency? BS.

No, @realDonaldTrump, you are manufacturing a crisis. You must keep #DACA in place until Congress passes a standalone Dream Act. https://t.co/dnGqkylS2c
