Remember when Donald Trump was president, and one of the weirder stories — and that’s saying something — was that occasionally the First Lady seemed to be the First Runner Up Lady?
For real, multiple times the POTUS went to some event with Melania Trump, and tons of onlookers saw the footage and photos and said, “NOPE! That ain’t Melania!” Each time, part of what fed the conspiracy theory was the fact she said and did basically nothing and wore large sunglasses that covered her entire eyes, eyebrows, and some of the sides of her face. People started to believe the President was literally using a body double because the real Melania refused to do events for him.
The theory was largely fueled by the very real evidence we often saw that Melania often seemed angry or hateful towards Donald. Just a very cold relationship — and who could blame her, considering he infamously cheated on her with a porn star while she was at home with their newborn.

Obviously this was never proven. Whether that’s because it’s just ridiculous we’ll leave up to you! But it did pop up from time to time when Melania would accompany Trump to some event, stand there and wave and smile in her big sunglasses… then disappear behind closed doors.
Well, it’s 2020 all over again in more ways than one today. As he makes some public appearances for election day, Trump has Melania with him… and folks are once again convinced that is NOT HER! For one thing, she’s got a big smile on her face! Dead giveaway! Ha!
But seriously, ch-ch-check out this video in which she wears her sunglasses the entire time she’s indoors:

The implication about the sunglasses is pretty clear here, and the commenters came out swinging! Doubters wrote:
“That’s not Melania! It doesn’t even look like her”
“That’s the double, not Melania , easy to see when she smiles and that’s what the glasses are for”
“Melania has furrows that run from her cheeks to underneath her chin. The other woman does not. ”
“She never has her hair behind her ears.”
“I am firmly against conspiracy theories, but damn, that really doesn’t look like her.”
“The mannerisms, the walk, no way that’s Melania.”
“That’s not her, the nose is different”
“their fake melanias are getting worse”
“Yeah, that’s a stand-in for sure”
Folks were pretty sure for some blurry videos. We even have to admit she looks a little off. Maybe it is because we never see her wearing the hair behind the ear? Who knows, but it’s definitely odd!
However… There actually is video of her speaking. Breaking from the tradition of past #FakeMelania theories, she pauses for a moment at Trump HQ — without the sunglasses on — to thank the staff:
