It’s still hours before noon on the east coast, and Donald Trump is already having a REALLY bad Fourth of July.
The sitting American President — who should, like, come across as proud and dignified on days like this — woke up to whine on Twitter again this morning, and now, his little pet project July 4th parade increasingly appears to be a dud.

First things first: in case you hadn’t figured it out by now, it turns out that Trump’s little show-of-force parade in Washington D.C. today is turning out to be a MAJOR headache for taxpayers… because he’s billing out expensive requests at levels never before seen in the capital city on the holiday!
TMZ has the receipts, revealing that, among other things, the Cheeto-in-Chief has charged more than $40,000 in taxpayer money on portable toilets for the parade route this year. That’s more than FOUR TIMES what’s been charged in previous years — and yet, according to all sensible reports, D.C. isn’t expecting anywhere near four times more people to show up in the city for this year’s little shindig. Hmmm…
That’s small potatoes, though, especially when compared to the $20,000 Trump has spend to rent golf carts. Last year’s cost? A big, fat $0. Who needs all these golf carts?! Or is it twenty grand on, like, one REALLY big, nice golf cart for Trump himself to ride around?
Even worse is the cost of fireworks; just $270,000 last year, Trump is spending more than $320,00 this go-around to be sure that he puts on the biggest fireworks display in D.C., or something. It’s gonna be yuuuuuge!
It’s not even that those specific numbers are so bad (the U.S. debt is over $22 trillion right now, so not exactly like a few fireworks matter THAT much), but as TMZ notes themselves, nobody in the administration can give a straight answer for exactly how much the entire celebration will cost! And worse yet, the National Park Service is diverting nearly $3 million of their own funds to help set the whole thing up, too!
Needless spending, all around, just so an old, dumpy, orange man can look at weapons and feel safe. Or something. Expect there to be flyovers and LOTS of tanks, y’all. And if the (lack of) crowd at Trump’s inauguration was any sign, we can be sure this parade will be very, very poorly attended, as well. What a waste!!! **rolls eyes**
Making Enemies!
That’s the least of Trump’s worries today, though… GOP Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan came out just hours ago in a SCATHING editorial in the Washington Post fully denouncing the Republican Party, and blasting Trump’s (lack of) leadership.
This isn’t the first time the (now-former) Republican rep Amash has publicly blasted Trump… and judging by the response, it’s clearly working. Begging Americans to put aside partisan politics, Amash wrote in part (below):
“We owe it to future generations to stand up for our constitutional republic so that Americans may continue to live free for centuries to come. Preserving liberty means telling the Republican Party and the Democratic Party that we’ll no longer let them play their partisan game at our expense.
Today, I am declaring my independence and leaving the Republican Party. No matter your circumstance, I’m asking you to join me in rejecting the partisan loyalties and rhetoric that divide and dehumanize us. I’m asking you to believe that we can do better than this two-party system — and to work toward it. If we continue to take America for granted, we will lose it.”

Hopefully, for you, it’ll at least provoke some intelligent thought or discussion about the current state of politics in America. For Donald… that was clearly not going to be the case.
Predictably, Trump RAGED at Amash on Twitter (where else?), whining about the editorial (below):
Great news for the Republican Party as one of the dumbest & most disloyal men in Congress is “quitting” the Party. No Collusion, No Obstruction! Knew he couldn’t get the nomination to run again in the Great State of Michigan. Already being challenged for his seat. A total loser!
