Donald Trump Lashes Out At Press Conference — And Reporters Finally Hit Back!

UPDATE 8:21 P.M. EST: It seems Trump has decided to make his personal attacks on the press more official.

Acosta just tweeted:

So from now on is the White House going to bar any journalists actually doing their jobs and trying to get answers for the American people??

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made it clear the WH is using the right wing Twitter exaggeration that Acosta “pushed” an intern trying to get his mic from him, something you can see is untrue on multiple videos of the moment:

Acosta simply responded:

You can see for yourself there is no assault of any kind above. He doesn’t push her away; he just refuses to hand her the mic.

But history tells we can expect Trump to start telling this lie and keep it going from now on as he continues to incite violence against the press.

If you thought Donald Trump acted like a dictator before the midterms, just wait.

The day after Republicans held the line using fear-mongering and falsehood, the POTUS is right back to attacking his favorite target: the press.

Trump showed why he rarely does these press conferences when his feet were held to the fire by reporters asking about racist rhetoric, Republicans losing the House, and the Russia investigation (he called it a “hoax” despite our entire intelligence apparatus saying otherwise).

African-American PBS White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor asked about the Republican candidates who are seen as supporting white nationalism. Trump called it a “racist question.”

He specifically blocked April Ryan from asking anything at all.

But no one got it worse than CNN‘s Jim Acosta, who asked the president if he was demonizing immigrants by calling the migrant caravan an “invasion” — and was called “a rude, terrible person” by the President of the United States (above).

Trump was steaming so bad, he even had to walk away from the podium for a minute!

The next question went to Peter Alexander from NBC News, who used his first few seconds to defend Acosta, saying:

“In Jim’s defense I’ve traveled with him and watched him, he is a diligent reporter who busts his butt like the rest of us.”

To which Trump responded:

“I’m not a big fan of yours either, to be honest… You are not the best… Just sit down, please. When you report fake news — no. When you report fake news, which CNN does a lot, you’re the enemy of the people.”

Ugh, he just keeps saying it.

CNN released a statement defending Acosta and journalism more broadly, saying:

“This president’s ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far. They are not only dangerous, they are disturbingly un-American. While President Trump has made it clear he does not respect a free press, he has a sworn obligation to protect it. A free press is vital to democracy, and we stand behind Jim Acosta and his fellow journalists everywhere.”

Hell yes!

The press is not the enemy of the people. The press are the eyes and ears of the people.

Remember, the only reason Trump goes after them time and again is because HE DOESN’T WANT THE PEOPLE TO SEE OR HEAR WHAT HE’S UP TO!
