Neil Young won’t be voting for Donald Trump anytime soon!
On Tuesday, the real estate mogul announced himself as a Republican presidential candidate for 2016, in what will be his fifth shot at being president!
In an attempt to seem the slightest bit relatable to potential voters, the 69-year-old blasted Young’s Rockin’ in the Free World as he took the stage at Trump Tower in New York City to make the announcement.

The problem with that was Trump did NOT have permission to use the iconic musician’s song and the rocker wasn’t happy about it! Young’s rep had this to say:
“Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement. Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America.”
Awkward!
The ironic part is that the hit 1989 tune was written as a critique of George H. W. Bush‘s administration — the 69-year-old artist is anything but a republican.
Trump’s use of the song has enraged Young’s former bandmate David Crosby. The Crosby, Still, Nash & Young musician shared the following message on his Twitter:
@PrezidentTrump @shar418 @SmileyTownz @realDonaldTrump Trump has picked a fight with the wrong guy …bad idea
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) June 16, 2015
It’s not surprising that the presidential hopeful takes whatever he wants without permission. If this is any indication of how he’ll run his campaign, we can look forward to him upsetting a lot more people!
