In case you were worried Donald Trump‘s legal team wasn’t desperate enough, the president has somehow convinced Rudy Giuliani to hop aboard and try to save him from Robert Mueller‘s investigation!
The former New York mayor told The Washington Post on Thursday that he hopes to “negotiate an end” to the investigation into Russian interference in the election “for the good of the country.”
Giuliani added he’s been speaking with PEETUS for weeks about joining the group of legal advisers, which has been struggling to recruit new members following the raid of Michael Cohen‘s records and all that Stormy Daniels drama.

The former presidential candidate told CNN his role will be “limited,” adding that his focus will be on giving the Russia collusion probe the “little push” it needs to come to a conclusion. He will work alongside Trump’s current attorneys, Jay Sekulow and Ty Cobb, whom he had nothing but praise for.
Giuliani also spoke highly of Mueller, noting that they worked together in the Justice Department as well as when Mueller was FBI director and Giuliani was NY’s mayor.
The 73-year-old said he’s going to get a list from Mueller of what is needed to “comply” with the rest of the investigation as soon as he can — which, depending on what is asked for, can take as quickly as “a couple of weeks.”
As for why Giuliani took on this role, sources close to the president told the New York Times that Trump might be replacing attorney general Jeff Sessions with Giuliani in the coming months.

Or maybe he just really fits the bill of a crooked Trump lawyer?
Certified tea spiller James Comey told Rachel Maddow on Thursday night that he launched an investigation into possible leaks from the FBI to Giuliani’s office after the former mayor appeared to predict Hillary Clinton‘s email investigation re-launching in October 2016. Comey doesn’t know the result of the Giuliani investigation, he added, because he was fired before it was finished.
We may not know what exactly inspired Giuliani to hop aboard Trump’s sinking legal ship, but we’re sure it wasn’t just the honor of serving the president.
