The Dr. will NOT see you now…
We thought American Idol would be prescribed a healthy dosage of music producer Dr. Luke as judge next season, but alas, it was not meant to be it appears!
According to a source, the doctor-who-would-be-judge had to back out due to a conflict of interest, and a busy schedule (aka too many patients).
Dr. Luke signed a deal with Sony Music back in 2011, which creates major issues since as judge on Idol he’d be working with and developing talent for Universal Music Group, which is direct competition with Sony.
In addition, a source also confirmed that Dr. Luke realized the time commitment would be too great:
“He really loves his artists and wants to build up the label….Luke wants to build an entertainment company…after a lot of conversations, both Luke and Sony Music CEO Doug Morris came to the mutual agreement that taking Dr. Luke out of the Idol running was the best thing for all parties.”
That’s too bad! We definitely thought this doctor could raise the pulse ratings of the show!
Dr. Luke, an established producer and songwriter, is responsible for Kelly Clarkson‘s Since U Been Gone, Pink‘s Who Knew and Katy Perry‘s I Kissed a Girl!
Looks like Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez will have to wait before they get a third colleague to join them. At this point, we’d recommend just posting the job on Craigslist!
Hmm maybe Dr. Dre can become a judge so we can still get a doctor’s treatment? LOLz!
