Losing someone you love changes you forever. And for Kelly Rizzo, the grief of losing her late husband, Bob Saget, continues to evolve in ways she’s still trying to understand.
The Comfort Food podcaster recently took to social media to reflect on the unexpected loss of the Full House star, who died at 65 on January 9, 2022, from head trauma.
Now, nearly five years later, Kelly is opening up about the complicated emotions that have stayed with her — and the unexpected ways grief continues to show up.

Sharing photos from their six-year relationship in a new Instagram post, she admitted:
“I’m still coming to terms with the fact that there will never be another new photo of him. I still feel guilty for feeling happy.”
She also got candid about how grief can affect the way we perceive other people’s healing journeys, confessing:
“Sometimes you catch yourself judging someone else’s grief. Which of course is off limits! (I heard about somebody dating again after two months, and I immediately thought, ‘that’s too soon!’ Then I feel bad for judging).”
It’s a reminder that grief isn’t a straight line, and even those experiencing it firsthand can struggle to make sense of it.
Kelly also revealed that tears still arrive at unexpected moments, sometimes questions whether her loss feels less significant because they shared six years together, and finds herself wanting to talk about Bob because she never wants him to be forgotten.
She also made another particularly moving revelation:
“I didn’t dream about Bob really for years, and I had my first significant dream about him just this year.”
And while time moves forward, Kelly explained that life remains divided into two distinct chapters:
“Your life is still divided into before and after. BBD and ABD (Before Bob Died and After Bob Died).”
She also shared a feeling many grieving people may recognize:
“Small talk is still unbearable. You don’t have time for surface-level stuff anymore.”
In her caption, Kelly summed up the ever-changing nature of loss, writing:
“Grief morphs and changes forms and evolves over time. It’s always still there. It just has different personalities from month to month and year to year. What else would you add to this list??”
So sad…
Kelly has continued moving forward with her life, going public with her relationship with actor Breckin Meyer two years after Bob’s death. But moving forward doesn’t mean leaving the past behind.
And that may be the most powerful part of her message. Grief changes, life continues, and love can remain long after someone is gone.
Sending all the love and light in the world…
