Since Dwyane Wade is not only one of the most famous NBA players on the planet, but a responsible father as well, President Barack Obama enlisted him to help shine a spotlight on good parents in Orlando before last weekend’s All-Star Game.
The Miami Heat superstar hosted a roundtable discussion last Friday at the White House’s Fatherhood Heroes event, which honored dads who exemplify the goals of Obama’s Fatherhood & Mentoring Initiative.
As part of the effort to encourage parents to be more actively involved in their children’s lives, the White House will be recognizing everyday dads throughout the next 12 months at more Fatherhood Heroes events.
Wade has two boys, Zaire and Zion, from his previous marriage and makes time for them amid his wide range of commitments that include being a celebrity basketball player (duh!) and his many philanthropic ventures.
We’d say he’s the perfect person to set the example for other fathers across the country!
