Apparently, congratulations are in order for Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn, as they are said to be expecting their first child together!
According to a new report from The Sun, the married couple (above, inset) kept their pregnancy quiet amid the coronavirus pandemic lockdown period, but they are “over the moon” about becoming parents in just a matter of WEEKS. Seriously??

A source told the outlet the two are making the “last preparations” at their sprawling Suffolk, England home before welcoming their baby into the world this summer. Sharing more about the private pair’s big news and why no one saw it was coming, the insider said:
“Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low key. Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.”
The source added:
“They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer. It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival.”
Neither Ed nor Cherry have responded to the outlet’s request for comment and we haven’t spotted a confirmation about the baby report on social media — yet! The Thinking Out Loud singer doesn’t share many details about his personal life on the ‘gram, so it’s hard to say if a little Sheeran is on the way.
As you’ll likely recall, last summer, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter shared that he and Seaborn tied the knot in a private ceremony in January 2019. The couple first met in grade school and have been together for five years, so we imagine a bundle of joy would certainly be a welcome addition to their happy little family!
Despite concerns over the ongoing global health crisis, the timing of this baby news lines up perfectly with Ed’s announcement late last year that he was taking an extended break from his career to focus on traveling and his personal life. While most of the world is bunkered down at home waiting for an end to COVID-19, the star and his wife could be tucked away tending to their newborn and that sounds… pretty nice!
During a particularly candid interview with Charlamagne The God last May to promote his album, No.6 Collaborations Project., the UK native spoke about the sacrifices he would be willing to make for Cherry and their future family, which likely sparked the decision to take a break. He said:
“I’m starting a life with Cherry. I can’t spend the next 20 years on the road. Kids would be the different thing. I wouldn’t mind sacrificing for them.”
Ugh, he sounds like such a great dad already! Sheeran added:
“If someone told me you can’t tour again for the next ten years if you have kids that is fine, because that is what I have signed up for. I’ve already achieved more than I thought I would, so now I’m just trying to have fun.”
