While it’s been over two years since Ed Sheeran dropped his x album, you may be surprised to learn he still managed to have a No. 1 song in 2016.
That’s because he just so happened to co-write Justin Bieber‘s Love Yourself alongside Benny Blanco… and now he’s showing us exactly how he would have done it!

The 25-year-old Brit was the special guest at East Anglia Children’s Hospices annual fundraiser Wednesday night where he performed 40 minutes of his greatest hits.
However, the showstopper was undoubtedly his surprise cover of Justin’s kiss-off anthem — to which he (in)appropriately changed the lyrics!
But Ed’s explicit version didn’t just feature the obvious switch of “love yourself” to “f*ck yourself…” he also threw in:
“Was I a fool to let you break down my balls?”
Get it? Balls instead of walls?!

Always the entertainer, Ed also made sure to address his recent facial injury at the hands of Princess Beatrice and, to a lesser extent, James Blunt, saying:
“It’s nice to be back. I’ve had a whole year off. I went to Japan for about a month and hung out with Japanese people. Got my face cut open, anyone read about that?”
We sure have…
But we’re glad he’s feeling good enough to joke about it already!
