Ellen DeGeneres' Brother Calls Out The Critics Slamming Her For Defending Kevin Hart!

ellen degeneres kevin hart controversy vance

After causing mass hysteria for partially absolving Kevin Hart of his homophobia-laced humor, Ellen DeGeneres has found herself an ally.
Vance DeGeneres took to Twitter over the weekend to address the critics who blasted the daytime queen for accepting the comedian’s apology for his decade-old, anti-gay jokes that ultimately caused him to back out of hosting the 2019 Oscars.

As we reported, the Ellen host gave Hart a full hour on her show last week to explain how he’s already addressed the jokes in question and has since evolved into a more sensitive performer. Not only did Ellen forgive the Night School star, she’s basically brokering a deal between him and The Academy to reinstate him as host — an effort that isn’t sitting well with much of LGBTwitter.
Responding to the horde of critics who slammed Ellen for using her notoriety to seemingly speak on behalf of the entire community, her brother insisted that she is only trying to make the world a “better, kinder, more compassionate place.” He tweeted:

Vance’s comment was met with its own Twiticism, of course, with responders maintaining that the ever-kind and compassionate comedienne was still abusing her privilege to sidestep the wishes of the entire LGBT community.
The DeGeneres siblings did receive some gay sidekick support, though — specifically from Sex and the City star Willie Garson, who tweeted to Vance in agreement:

It’s a messy situation, for sure. Critics say they don’t feel Hart’s apology was sincere enough; meanwhile, Hart says he’s addressed and apologized for these jokes in the past — so, that’s why he’s not enthusiastic about making yet another apology a decade later, especially in a climate where apologies never seem good enough once they are made.

Based on Ellen’s conversation with Oscar officials, it sounds like The Academy is still hoping to find a way for Hart to host the ceremony.
But can they find a way to appease the critics at this point? Ellen didn’t seem too concerned about that, as she told Hart during the segment:

“They’re going to win if you don’t host the Oscars. Then they win! They can’t destroy you, because you have too much talent.”

We guess Ellen’s compassion doesn’t extend to the demanders of social media.
Do U think Hart could still end up hosting the Oscars?
