The doctor is in… and she’s PISSED!
As we reported, in late 2017, Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo signed a new deal where she will earn more than $20 million a year for the show’s upcoming 15th and 16th seasons.

On Thursday, Deadline announced that long-time cast members Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew will exit the hit medical drama after this year.
While sources say the decision was “based strictly on the show’s creative direction,” some believed the website was trying to make a link between Pompeo’s hefty paycheck and the two firings. The publication wrote:
“The decision not to bring back Capshaw and Drew comes on the heels of the blockbuster new Pompeo pact that gave her a significant salary increase, paying her as much as $20 million a year.”
When Pompeo got word, she took to Twitter to blast the shameful article. The 48-year-old exclaimed:
Its unfortunate that @DEADLINE chooses to try to pit women against eachother on #InternationalWomensDay #shameonyounotme

I’m a big girl @DEADLINE can take shots at me if they want but to the fans please don’t fall into that trap. This is above my pay grade

Grey’s co-showrunner Krista Vernoff also went on social media to clear up any misconceptions about Capshaw and Drew’s terminations.

Later that day, Deadline updated its original article to deny any wrongdoing. They wrote:
“While Deadline‘s story stressed that the decision for Capshaw and Drew’s exits was strictly creative, the mention of the big new deal for Pompeo, which helped secure a renewal for Grey’s, led to online speculation about a possible connection between the two. There is no such connection that we are aware of. Because this has become an issue, pitting women against each other on International Women’s Day, we are making it clear.”
More drama than an actual episode!
