Emily In Paris Cast Reportedly ‘So Upset’ Over Lucas Bravo’s Degrading Comments -- Causing ‘A Lot Of Tension’!

Is the cast of Emily In Paris about to say au revoir to Lucas Bravo?

Fans know that the 36-year-old actor portrays Lily Collins’ character Emily’s on-again, off-again lover and chef, Gabriel, on the hit Netflix show. For four seasons, we watched the back-and-forth between Emily and Gabriel until they finally became a couple (amid that fake pregnancy scare plot with his ex-girlfriend and her friend Camille).

However, their relationship did not last long. After the pair break up, we see Emily say adieu to Paris and move to Rome to head the Italian office of Agence Grateau, leaving behind a heartbroken Gabriel. Yes, it’s Emily in Rome now. LOLz! She is also with her new love interest, Marcello.

While viewers cheered on Emily ditching Gabriel, they also knew it was not for good. Their love story was likely not over. It would not surprise anyone if Season 5 is about Gabriel heading to Rome to try to win back Emily — unless the writers have different plans now! After the eyebrow-raising comments from Lucas about the show, they may want to just cut his character!

When the season four finale aired, the Ticket to Paradise star was not shy about expressing his unhappiness with the lack of development of his character to the French outlet Le Figaro last month. He said:

“I would like him to find a bit of panache again.”

Lucas can admit the series is “good entertainment” and “an escape” from reality, but he just feels the on-again, off-again relationship between Gabriel and Emily is “a bit archaic.” He added:

“I don’t want to be part of a cog that tends not to consider the intelligence of the spectators.”

Way to insult the writers and creators of this show. Jeez. But rather than apologizing for his remarks, Lucas just doubled down! In an interview with IndieWire, he said his character has been “slowly turned into guacamole”:

“The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take. I’ve never been so far away from him.”

Ultimately, Lucas shared that it is “not fun” watching a “character [he] loves so much” turn into a different person. He hates it so much that he has even questioned leaving the show!

“I tried for seasons to bring nuances but we don’t have much liberty on set. We cannot change a word or an emotion. They know what they want and we just have to comply. It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5 […] because my contract ends at Season 4. I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self. Because three seasons playing melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost is not fun anymore.”

Oof. He continued:

“They’re probably holding onto something that they couldn’t measure that had such a success so now they are very precious about not changing the recipe and keeping it what it was. Anything that could go off road is carefully taken back. It’s a lot of souffles. Pregnant? No, fake positive. Going to Rome? No, coming back. There are a lot of things like that. There is a lack of risk.”

That said, he still has a lot of “love” for the series:

“I feel like I am not being nice or grateful, but when you love something you want it to be…you want the best version of it. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been frustrated with the direction by character is taking. But we’ll see where it goes. The show is not over.”

We get he is passionate about his character, but damn! He just trash-talked about his own show and those who work on it! Well, the cast heard what he had to say and did NOT appreciate it! Now, Lucas’ future on Emily In Paris is up in the air. A source told Us Weekly on Wednesday:

“The show will go on with or without Lucas. The show is Emily in Paris — not Gabriel in Paris.”

We bet many fans would be glad not to have another season of the two questioning if they want to be together — if Lucas is fired or quits! The insider noted that “everyone is so upset about the remarks he made.” And they aren’t getting over it anytime soon! If The Honeymoon star does come back for Season 5, the source pointed out that “there is going to be a lot of tension.” Yikes! Not the kind of vibes you want on the set of a romantic comedy!

Reactions, Perezcious readers? Do you think Lucas will return to the show for Season 5? Sound OFF in the comments!
