Ever since Peter Jackson announced that Evangeline Lilly would be playing a character invented specifically for the film version of The Hobbit, we’ve been chomping at the bit to find out more!
Now that we’ve finally gotten to see this controversial new character, who the heck is she? Evangeline breaks it down for us! She says:
“Tauriel is the head of the Elven Guard. She├óΓé¼Γäós a Sylvan Elf, which means she├óΓé¼Γäós of a much lower order than the elves we all became acquainted with in The Lord of the Rings.
She doesn├óΓé¼Γäót hold the same kind of status that Arwen or Galadriel or Elrond or Legolas do ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ she├óΓé¼Γäós much more lowly. She sort of goes against the social order of the elves a little bit.”

Besides being tough, Tauriel also has a love interest that may or may not be Orlando Bloom! She says:
“Tauriel├óΓé¼Γäós relationship with Legolas is significant. They├óΓé¼Γäóve known each other since they were children, and Legolas├óΓé¼Γäó dad, Thranduil, has a soft spot for Tauriel and sees something very special in her.
So if you grow up side by side, and your dad has a very special spot in his heart for this young woman who├óΓé¼Γäós a fantastic warrior, I think it├óΓé¼Γäós hard not to notice her.”
Ooh, sounds like Miranda Kerr might have some competition!
