“I am a mother of two children who are over weight. I am trying to make ‘family fit time’ – do you have any suggestions?”
Courtney’s answer:
“Thanks for your question! It’s great to see that you are thinking about creative ways to incorporate fitness into your lifestyle.
Here are some great ways that you can have “active” fun as a family:
Nature Walks – involve education and fitness, take the kids to a nature reserve, walk the tracks and look at all the plants and animals.
Ball Sports – Setting up a mini game of soccer, softball or tennis is a great way to incorporate all members of the family.
Frisbee – Head down to the local park or the beach and play a game of frisbee.
Dog Walking – Take the family pet for a walk each afternoon or if you don’t have a pet, I’m sure you have a neighbor that would love to have you take their pet for a walk!
Backyard Activities – Get everyone involved in the yard work. They can help you dig holes, plant flowers and rake leaves. Make these activities a game.
The most important thing is to make an activity a regular routine, so that it becomes a part of your lifestyle. Get out the calender and schedule in some fun fitness activities in advance :)”
