EXCLUSIVE: The 'Good Fats' Your Child Should Be Eating

Margaux's Nutrition Nibble
Q&A with Margaux!!
A Perezicouse parent asks:

“I’m on a low (or no) fat diet. The food I feed my two young children are similar to what I fix for myself. Is it unhealthy to cut fat out of a child’s diet?”

Inneresting question! Perezitos‘ wellness expert Margaux has just the answer!
Margaux says:

“Don’t fear the fat…it’s not all bad! Your child needs to have plenty of good fats included into their diet because it aids in the absorption of fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), helps with hormone growth, promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails, and boosts their brain power.
Include plenty of omega-3 fatty acids into your daily meals with walnuts, cauliflower, salmon, cod, and cabbage. Avocados, olive-oil, and coconut oil are other great sources of healthy fats. When it comes to supplementing good fats into your child’s diet, I recommend adding Barlean’s Omega Kids Swirl to your morning smoothies because it’s a good way to “sneak” good-fat into your child’s diet (and it’s delicious too).
Avoid trans fats from products like margarine, commercial baked goods, and fried foods.”

That good to know! You can give your kids some supplements — but we suggest you have more guacamole! LOL!
